About the Speaker: Dr. Michael Murphy is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. He was previously a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute for Modern and Contemporary Culture, University of Westminster, United Kingdom. His doctoral research involved radically rethinking critical cosmopolitan social theory through the works of Gerard Delanty, Walter Mignolo and Watsuji Tetsurō. His revised PhD thesis was published with Rowman and Littlefield International in January 2021. His current research looks to provide a legal imaginary that draws on global epistemological resources, with an alternative vision for the redesign, renewal and re-invigoration of global and European traditions of democracy. It introduces into legal and political discourses a conceptually post-western radical pluralism, an enactive and relational social ontology, and a Decolonialized Decolonial theory.
