If you are not already in Germany, there are two airports close to Gӧttingen, Hannover, and Frankfurt. The Frankfurt Airport is situated in the city of Frankfurt am Main.
Most international as well as domestic flights arrive here.
Getting to Gӧttingen from Frankfurt Airport by train:
Train tickets can be purchased from the site: https://www.bahn.de/ . There is also an app called DB Navigator. The entire train journey takes over 2.5 hours by Intercity Express or ICE from Frankfurt Airport to Gӧttingen.
The second airport is in Hannover and is closer to Göttingen, but it is a small airport and only EU flights arrive here. The airport is connected to Hannover Central Station (Hannover Hbf) by train (S-Bahn line 5). From Hannover Hbf to Göttingen it is a 20 minute journey by ICE or one hour and twenty minutes by regional train.
