Accounting4NFDI addresses the challenge of heterogeneous accounting solutions across the NFDI by focusing on interoperability rather than replacement. Initial analyses show that many consortia already operate mature, domain-specific systems that are difficult to integrate due to differing models, interfaces, and semantics. The project therefore develops a common framework with shared abstractions and interfaces, aligned with initiatives such as IAM4NFDI and EOSC Accounting. Through incubators and collaboration with early adopters, practical integration strategies are evaluated, while a prototype dashboard demonstrates cross-consortia aggregation and visualization of accounting data. The work highlights interoperability as the key enabler for a federated accounting ecosystem within NFDI.
