Effective Research Data Management (RDM) training depends not only on high-quality content but also on the choice of training formats and methods. During the Initialisation phase of the RDMTraining4NFDI basic service, we designed and evaluated a six-week hybrid training event for the NFDI community, combining onsite and online workshops, self-learning phases and a homework phase. Using surveys, interviews, and focus groups, we assessed participant motivation and satisfaction. Our findings highlight a clear preference for onsite training and provide practical recommendations for designing engaging RDM training. The poster also shares lessons learned from developing and delivering the event and invites the RDM community to exchange experiences and contribute to the future development of the basic service.
