The LIFE Fall Academy 2026 will take place in the Harnack House, a conference venue of the Max Planck Society. Beyond conference areas, it also offers accommodations. Therefore, we have booked rooms for participants from Switzerland and the USA there.

How to get to the Harnack House
Start at airport BER fast connection (46 min)
- From BER Airport, take the FEX in the direction of Berlin Hauptbahnhof (every 20 min). Get off at the station Südkreuz.
- Change to the S-Bahn line S41 in the direction of Ringbahn. Get off at the stop Heidelberger Platz.
- Change to the U-Bahn line U3 in the direction of Krumme Lanke. Get off at the stop Freie Universität. Leave the station in the direction of travel through the left exit. The Harnack-Haus is located on the right in about 100 m distance.
Start at airport BER (1 h 35 min)
- From BER Airport, take the S-Bahn line S9 in the direction of Spandau. Get off at the station Warschauer Straße.
- Change to the U-Bahn line U3 in the direction of Krumme Lanke. Get off at the stop Freie Universität. Leave the station in the direction of travel through the left exit. The Harnack-Haus is located on the right in about 100 m distance.
Start at Berlin's Central Station (Hauptbahnhof)
- Take S-Bahn line S7 towards Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.
- At Zoologischer Garten, change onto the U-Bahn line U9 towards Rathaus Steglitz.
- At Spichernstrasse, change onto the U-Bahn line U3 towards Krumme Lanke and get off at Freie Universität. Leave the station in the direction of travel through the left exit. From there, you will reach Harnack House after approximately 100 meters.
Start at train station Südkreuz
- Take the S-Bahn line S41 (Ringbahn).
- At Heidelberger Platz, change onto the U-Bahn line U3 towards Krumme Lanke.
- Get off at Freie Universität. To exit the station, follow the train’s direction of travel and take the left exit. Leave the station in the direction of travel through the left exit. From there, you will reach Harnack House after approximately 100 meters.
Start at train station Spandau
- Take U-Bahn line U7 towards Rudow
- Change at Fehrbelliner Platz onto the U-Bahn line 3 towards Krumme Lanke.
- Get off at Freie Universität. To exit the station, follow the train’s direction of travel and take the left exit. Leave the station in the direction of travel through the left exit. From there, you will reach Harnack House after approximately 100 meters.
How to buy public transport tickets
The tickets can be purchased either in the BVG vending machines at the airport or through the BVG app (dowload here: App Store / Google Play). The tickets cannot be purchased inside the bus, and riding without them may lead to a 60€ fine.
From the airport to the Harnack House you will need a single ticket (Einzelfahrschein) for zones B/C (4€).
