Diamond Discovery Hub will be a comprehensive registry of institutionally published and scholar-led Open Access Journals in the European Research Area, with manually verified diamond information. There will be three slots covering:

OJS Diamond Plugins are being developed to make the editor’s job easier. According to the OA Diamond Journals Study, many journal editors manage their journals as a “second job” alongside their primary roles, often as researchers. These Diamond plugins will assist editors in enhancing the discoverability of their journals, while also facilitating automatic connections to key databases and aggregators such as OpenAIRE and EOSC.
In this session, the OJS connector for the OpenAIRE Research Graph will be presented in detail with a hands-on demonstration of how to activate the plugin in OJS and how to get the most out of it. The OJS plugin for the EOSC Interoperability Framework on Research Product Publishing and the OJS plugin for integrating feedback from the EOSC catalogue will also be presented, and a discussion will be held on how best to make them work.
The training needs of Open Access Journal editors, reviewers, IPSPs[1] and IPTPs[2] are as diverse as the technical standards they are confronted with. The curriculum provides a modular framework for upskilling qualification in technical topics and takes into account the variety of publishing environments in which they occur. In addition to suggesting the training topics, the deliverable elaborates on their contents and provides practical recommendations for organizing and structuring a training. To each training topic a potential target audience, a user level and a FAIR principle is assigned. A succinct information on training topics is presented in the curriculum checklist, which can be used as a backbone of the upskilling agenda. The curriculum is thus designed to be adapted to the context and to the mode of the training.

These Diamond plugins will assist editors in enhancing the discoverability of their journals, while also facilitating automatic connections to key databases and aggregators such as OpenAIRE and EOSC. These two sessions will present the current progress regarding the related work.
This session will present and discuss the Plugins for OJS and Lodel Interoperability based on JATS XML, and the OJS Plugin for supporting Journal Metadata Exchange Format. JMEF is a new format for metadata exchange at the journal level, mainly developed for the Diamond Discovery Hub connection.
Session 3: “What works best for you? Trying and assessing training material for technical publication standards”
WP3 of CRAFT-OA is developing new training material in Task 3.3 (running until June 2025) and is seeking your input: During this interactive session, we will look into different training materials that address technical publication standards. You will get the opportunity to work on selected materials on a variety of topics. As a conclusion of the session we are asking for your feedback on training formats and topics that fit your needs in order to inform the next phase of the task. No prior knowledge is required; we are particularly interested in your personal impressions and local contexts to develop suitable material. If possible, please bring your own devices to be able to explore material individually.
Session 4: Automated Conversion to JATS XML: A hands-on workshop
In this workshop, we will introduce the stand-alone technical support for the automatic conversion of articles to the JATS XML format, developed within the Portal of Croatian scientific and professional journals HRČAK. This automatic conversion service is planned to be available to all European journals. The availability of such services is expected to encourage publishing in the JATS XML format by significantly reducing the time and resources required for its creation.
Participants will have the opportunity to trial the automated conversion tool, facilitated by SRCE, which enables conversion from formats such as DOCX to JATS XML. The workshop will cover the fundamental structure and benefits of JATS XML, along with strategies for optimizing articles to ensure efficient automated conversion. Additionally, there will be discussions on the future development and sustainability of this tool.

The OpenAIRE Publisher Dashboard will provide dedicated dashboards tailored specifically for publishers of Diamond Open Access journals (mostly institutions but could also be other not for profit companies). The dashboards will have indicators and metrics to assess the quality, compatibility of the publications production. This session provides an update on the work and an opportunity for participants to provide feedback and influence future development.

Session 6
A short coding session. Mapping national and scientific controlled vocabularies and exploring their integration into the Open Journal Systems publishing platform using a plugin based approach and a plugin draft as a starting point. We hope to discuss especially use cases and examples for controlled vocabularies from participants as well as existing integrations with OJS.
Session 7
A co-planning and discussion session. Looking into contributor roles and content types, possible taxonomies that could be used within the context of OJS and academic publishing and use cases in third party services. During the session we will also give an overview of the current OJS core development work taking place in the CRAFT-OA project.
The Living Handbook aims to promote the dissemination of CRAFT-OA project results and the availability of information. With a user-friendly interface and aspired regular updates, emphasis is placed on accessibility and sustainability. The LH will be developed in collaboration with the Diamond OA community, ensuring the content is relevant and applicable. In line with this aim, the session will strive for a mutual exchange of knowledge. The LH’s state of development will be discussed. Participants as active members of the DOA community are invited to give structured feedback and thus help to shape the Living Handbook according to the community’s needs.
This session will focus on the presentation of the new OJS plugin Discoverability Companion (DISCO). DISCO will help Diamond journals to assess and to increase their visibility & discoverability. Building on the knowledge base of the main indexes and aggregators used in the academic field developed within Task 5.1, this plugin provides a consolidated list of their requirements. In many cases the requirements are very similar or even the same in different indexes, but they are named differently, which may not be obvious to the user at first glance. Moreover, it will also act as an incentive for editors – visually showing them that if they meet this requirement, they can log into that database.

This session outlines the CRAFT-OA project strategic approaches to maximize impact and ensure the long-term benefits of key project outcomes in the field of Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing.
It will focus on the exploitation of the project’s Key Exploitable Results (KERs) and how these outputs will be identified, promoted and utilized, including:
Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH): A comprehensive registry for Diamond OA journals in Europe, designed to improve its visibility and discoverability.
Open Journal Systems (OJS) Core Features: Targeted improvements to the OJS platform to enhance data management, support for multiple languages and metadata quality, among other features. These enhancements aim to streamline editorial processes and improve the quality of OA publishing.
OpenAIRE Publisher Dashboard: A tool providing tailored metrics and insights for Diamond OA publishers, enabling them to assess and measure the quality of the publication production.
Living Handbook (LH): A dynamic resource offering standards, tools and training materials for institutional publishing in the Diamond OA domain, ensuring that stakeholders have access to up-to-date and practical guidance.
OJS Diamond Plugins: Designed to facilitate editorial workflows and improve the discoverability of Diamond OA journals. These five plugins aim to be integrated seamlessly with key databases and aggregators such as OpenAIRE and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
