The Anthropocene – how do we deal with this complex long-term global challenge
Day 1 (afternoon) – What do we know and what knowledge is missing?
Welcome by Gerald Haug, Patrick Cramer, Jürgen Renn & Thomas Lengauer.
This half day will start with a talk introducing the theme of the meeting. It will then feature talks that summarize the extent and (actual and principal) limitations of our present knowledge of the Anthropocene that has been acquired by scientific research in the fields of climate research, Earth system sciences, geology, life sciences and history as well as a talk on the methodical aspects of dealing with complex systems like the Earth System.
All talks on day 1 discuss phenomenological issues of the Anthropocene, are directed at the implications for human action and cover the entire span of mitigation, adaption and correction.
Confirmed speakers: Ricarda Winkelmann, Francine McCarthy, Ana Bastos, Jochem Marotzke, Geoffrey West
Evening Lecture by Andrea Wulf.
Day 2 (whole day) – Who are the key actors addressing the challenges of the Anthropocene?
