The documentary follows renowned and experienced researchers Nancy Hopkins (biologist), Raychelle Burks (chemist), and Jane Willenbring (geologist) on their journey. They take viewers on a journey through their own experiences in science. They recount how they overcame harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle insults to revolutionize the culture of science.

The additional panel discussion gives the opportunity to reflect on the documentary in order to draw parallels with the own working situation and to discuss strategies for change in academic institutions.
