Description

About the event:

Title:

Generative AI and Deep Learning with MATLAB: Applications in Medicine, Neuroscience, and Geoscience

Synopsis:

A hands-on day for researchers and students who want to apply AI with MATLAB — using low-code and no-code workflows wherever possible. Morning: a short overview of classical ML, deep learning, and generative models. Afternoon: three focused hands-on sessions on Generative AI — using it in MATLAB, connecting external AI services, and building your own agents. Examples drawn from medicine, neuroscience, and geoscience. Temporary MATLAB Desktop licenses provided.

What you will take away:

Confidence to evaluate AI approaches for your research, a working toolkit of low-code MATLAB patterns, reusable templates for connecting LLMs to your analyses, and a starter agent you can adapt to your own domain.

Speaker:

Akhil Gopinath (MathWorks)

Prerequisites:

Basic MATLAB familiarity is helpful but not required. Bring a laptop with MATLAB Desktop pre-installed using the workshop license (sent ahead of the event). Stable internet needed for Sessions 3 and 4.

About the series:

The NHR‑Nord@Göttingen Special Classroom series offers a hands‑on learning platform where industry professionals and academic course providers bring their expertise directly to our community through instructor‑led courses rather than traditional talks. In each session a member of a participating organization presents a concise, content‑rich introduction followed by an interactive, practice‑oriented module (such as live demos, coding labs, simulation workshops, or design sprints) culminating in a dynamic Q&A that lets participants ask detailed technical questions and explore real‑world applications. By joining these courses you gain immediately applicable skills in areas like data science, sustainable computing, AI ethics, cloud engineering, and emerging research trends, while also enjoying direct access to the experts shaping today’s technological landscape and networking with peers across academia and industry. Regular attendance keeps you at the forefront of innovation, expands your toolbox, and connects you with the minds driving tomorrow’s breakthroughs.

If you are interested in the event, please register directly using the “Register” button. The BigBlueButton room details for online participation will be sent out the day before the event via email. Participation is free of charge.
