Description

Recently, the University of Göttingen has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). One now may ask what should be done next to make these recommendations a reality at Göttingen campus?

More broadly, we would like to explore the current debate and efforts around reforming research assessment which are gaining momentum in Europe. We would like to discuss both the motivations as well as the challenges related to current approaches and possible alternatives that are gaining traction or are still under development.

In particular, we would like to get a better overview of the following issues:

  • What criteria, metrics and indicators are currently used (with focus on UGOE and UMG)?
  • What alternative approaches are available and what might be related challenges?
  • What guidance can be provided, taking into account research integrity?
  • What role can Open Science play in the efforts to reform research assessment?

Notes from the meeting will be taken here: https://pad.gwdg.de/OpenScienceGOE20230710
