Description

The digital, English-language workshop on 25.09.25 will focus on interfaces, in particular APIs, for text-based digital editions. It is aimed at humanities scholars, editors and librarians as well as computer scientists and infrastructure service providers. A major motivation for the workshop is the desire to make data and metadata better and more easily available for computational access and processes, such as text and data mining as well as text analysis.

In the first part, the four services Distributed Text Services, TextAPI, TextFrame and SHINE/RISE will be presented in talks of about 20 minutes. Afterwards, the specific possibilities and limitations of these services as well as the requirements and wishes of the users will be discussed in the mentioned target groups via breakout sessions. In the second part, insights into the implementation of the DTS specification in the TEI Publisher will be provided.

In total, the workshop will take about a half-day. The aim is to publish a kind of matrix that can serve as a guide for both service providers and interested parties.

Participation is free of charge, registration is required (see below). The event is organized by Katharina Brückmann (University Library Heidelberg), Philipp Hegel (Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz), Kilian Hensen (Cologne Center for eHumanities), and Leonhard Maylein (University Library Heidelberg). It is a cooperation of Heidelberg University Library (with its FID arthistoricum.net and Propylaeum) and NFDI consortium Text+.
