Dear coworkers, colleagues and friends,

All good things usually come to an end, all enzymes usually run out of substrate, and all old scientists should eventually give up their resources to someone with fresher ideas. So it will soon be for me.

On the occasion of my retirement as director, you are warmly invited to join us on May 28, 2026 for a symposium in Jena. This event is sponsored by the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology and is entitled “Biochemical Perspectives on Chemical Ecology”. The program will feature contributions from former department colleagues and is a great chance to reconnect, share some science, and have a party afterwards.

The detailed program, featuring all confirmed speakers, will be available shortly. To help us prepare a proper welcome, please register at your earliest convenience [here] or via the menu on the left.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Jena for this event!

With best wishes,
Jonathan Gershenzon
