By plane:
From Munich Airport (MUC), take S-Bahn lines S1 or S8 to Munich Central Station. Continue to Tegernsee Station, which is 59 kilometres away and takes around an hour to reach.
By train/ continuing from Munich Central station:
Munich Central (München Hbf), take the regional train to Tegernsee (final station). Trains run approximately every 30 minutes, covering the 59 km journey in about one hour.
If you do not have a through ticket to Tegernsee, the easiest way to buy your ticket is via the MVV (Munich Public Transport) app. You need a ticket for Zone 6.
We can offer limited transfers to Ringberg Castle for attendees arriving at Tegernsee station on the RB57 train at 16:09 (departing Munich station at 15:02). A total of 10 seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve your spot, please email office.cramer@mpinat.mpg.de. The others please use public transport or a taxi.
Taxi
If you plan to take a taxi from Tegernsee Station to Ringberg, it is advisable to book in advance.
Public transport
Bus 356 departs from Tegernsee station approximately once an hour. The journey to your stop, Naturkäserei, Oberhof, takes 24 minutes. From there, you can walk the 1.9 km to the castle in a maximum of 30 minutes. Kindly refer to the departure times and tickets in the MVV app. A Zone 6 ticket from Munich station to Tegernsee also covers the bus.
By car:
Take the motorway Munich-Salzburg A8 (E45) via the motorway junction Brunnthal to exit 97 Holzkirchen. Continue on the B318 towards Gmund am Tegernsee.
In Gmund, turn off towards Bad Wiessee and continue until you reach the traffic lights after the Weißach town sign. Turn right onto the B307 federal road towards Achensee here.
After approximately 1 km, leave the B307 shortly after the end of Reitrain and continue straight ahead for approximately 100 metres until you reach the access avenue specially signposted for Ringberg Castle (1.8 km gravel road with a 9% gradient).

The car park is located in front of the castle's main entrance.
